Hotel Herringbone, a new boutique hotel operated by Lucky Find Hospitality & slated to open in Waco in 2024, is honoring the Waco arts and community at their future location (319 4th st. Waco, TX) on Friday, July 21 starting at 6:30 p.m.
The evening event will offer a sneak peek of the hotel’s early stages of construction while also celebrating their new mural designed by renowned muralist Kamea Hadar. Hadar’s work has evolved off of the canvas to large-scale murals and installations of traditional portraiture that can be found in cities across the world. He will be present and actively working on the mural during the evening, and guests are able to meet him and speak to him about his inspiration.
Hadar’s mural at Herringbone is supported by Creative Waco, the local arts & culture organization that is shining a light on Waco’s artists, performers & makers in the community. Throughout the year, Creative Waco runs several programs to further grow the artistic and cultural life of Waco. The ARTPrenticeship Program provides concept-to-completion internship experience to local creative high school students and mentorship opportunities with local professional artists, enabling them to create captivating and innovative murals that capture the city’s history, aspirations, and charm. With that spirit in mind, attendees of the event on Friday evening will have the opportunity to contribute to the mural themselves. This further supports Hotel Herringbone’s mission of becoming a place of community and creativity.
As you immerse yourself in art and conversation, delight your taste buds with culinary creations by the talented Chef Corey McEntyre of Milo. Chef Corey McEntyre of Milo will be heading up the F&B programs at the new development, and he will be onsite, barbecuing delectable dishes for you to enjoy throughout the evening. Additionally, complimentary (adult) beverages will be provided by local brewery and distillery partners, adding to the enjoyment of the event. To set the perfect atmosphere, there will be live music performances from local bands, infusing the evening with the vibrant energy of Waco’s talented music scene.
The following morning on Saturday, July 22nd, Herringbone and Creative Waco will be hosting a Community Paint Day from 8-11 a.m. This is an opportunity for apprentices in the Creative Waco Artprenticeship Program and their mentors to come together with the Waco community, partners and sponsors to create something lasting together! Anyone in the Waco community is invited to join for this event and enjoy light bites and coffee as well.
Both events are free and open to the public.
