“Tales & Tails on the Cameron Park Trails,” the inaugural event of Friends of Cameron Park Waco, will be held on Sunday, October 8, from 2-3 p.m. at the Rock Shelter (base of Jacob’s Ladder) in Cameron Park.
The event features trail tales from Waco Parks and Rec rangers as well as an opportunity to meet a horse who supports the park’s mounted patrols. Speakers include park ranger supervisor Gary Proctor, former ranger Nora Schell, as well as a horse from the Painted Ridge Farm in Lorena.
Trail-mix bags will be given to the first 30 guests at this family-friendly event. Attendees can also put their knowledge of the park to the test with Cameron Park trivia. Guests are encouraged to bring their own water bottles and collapsible chairs.
The event is free but donations are appreciated to offset the cost of the event and to help sponsor future Friends events. Guests can also become founding members of Friends by joining with a $25 membership.
Friends of Cameron Park Waco’s mission is the historic and environmental preservation, restoration, and sustainability of Cameron Park.
